Stages power meter
The Stages Powermeter is a "plug and play" power meter, which can be easily exchanged for the existing left crank arm, coupled with his bike computer and then can start directly with the power measurement.
Every athlete will find his perfect crank arm length of the Stages Powermeter. Stages offers a wide range of crank arm lengths. With the Stages Powermeter the measuring technology is mounted in the left crank arm. The fact that only the left crank arm with the Stages power meter is changed, the installation of the power meter is kept simple. The power meter measures the torque, cadence and power of the left leg. The Stages Powermeter system assumes that both legs are producing the same force. This multiplies the value of the left leg by two, so that you can see the total value of both legs on the bike computer. This makes the product more compact, lighter and cheaper.
In the case of one-sided systems, the measurement is on the left, the calculated performance value is doubled and thus presented as the total value. The force distribution within one revolution of the crank can be analyzed during the compression and tension phase, which is particularly interesting for drivers who want to improve their pedaling efficiency. The Stages Powermeter has the ANT + and Bluetooth Smart technology and can therefore be connected to almost all ANT + enabled cycling computers, as well as modern smartphones.
The sensor integrates inconspicuously into the switching system and sends the gained watts to the head unit or the sports watch, so that you can read the performance data live or after training and optimize your personal performance.
The performance measuring systems are available for road bike and mountain bike sports.
Double-sided power meters / power meters from Stages
Now the manufacturer Stages also offers two-sided measurement in cycling. With the Stages Powermeter Shimano Dura-Ace 9100 LR and the Stages Powermeter Shimano Ultegra R8000 LR you now have the opportunity to get Watt values separately for the left and right side. This will please many Stages fans, as until now only unidirectional power meters from Stages were offered.
What do you have to consider when choosing the right Stages Powermeters?
Stages powermeter crank arms fit only to the respective manufacturer model in the crank length for which they are intended and get the uniform look of the components on the bike. The compactly designed Stages Powermeter measuring system is located on the inside of the crank arm, which is hardly recognizable, but depending on the frame it can lead to problems with the assembly or the collision of sensor and frame or brake if there is not enough space!
Example 1:Stages Powermeter Ultegra 6800170mm only in combination with a Shimano Ulterga 6800 170mm crankset. The crankshaft does not matter here in the selection, since the current Shimano cranks are all a Hollowtech II version, thus also partially can be combined with each other, if the Q-factor is the same.
Example 2:Stages power meter FSA Energy 170mm BB30 only in combination with a FSA Energy 170mm BB30 crankset. Here you have to pay attention not only to the 170mm length, but also to the matching BB30 screw connection of shaft and arm! Here are the variants BB30, MegaExo & BB386 EVO, similar to SRAM / Truvativ the different BB30 and wave
